Pitsford Water week ending 3 October

Fish week 142 Returns 43 Rod average 3.2 Season (5.7)

Pitsford continues to frustrate as there are some great catches on some days but on others it has fished poorly. There have been some cracking Browns being caught with perhaps the best catch going to local angler Mark Haycock who caught and released three Browns around the 6-8lb mark, all in wonderful condition. Mark was fishing around the weedbeds using both fry and daddy patterns.

One angler had six fish from the bank at Pitsford Creek in a morning session.

The fishing remains inconsistent though and the strong winds over the weekend made the fishing challenging. The best boat areas are top of the narrows, main bowl, Sailing Club frontage and Pines.

Bank anglers should try Pitsford Creek, Flats, Rigbys and Gravels.

The fish remain in the top few feet and fry patterns will work as well as foam daddies.

Boat anglers fishing open water should try a midge tip line and washing line tactics with either fab or sparkler booby on the point. Small diawls or muskins on the droppers.

A further 1,500 fish have been stocked this week taking the total to 27,500 for the season so far.

Best Brown: 8lb

Fish stocked:1,500
