Pitsford Water week ending 29 August

Fish week 142 (Season 8,386) Returns 38 (1,410) Rod average 3.7 (5.9)

Pitsford sport has been unpredictable with good days followed by more challenging days. Methods are varied and it seems that if you drop on fish they will happily take flies fished in the surface but they are very localised.

Drifting to cover more water is definitely the best method and floating or tip lines are best. Some fish are coming to the dries with red or claret best.

Foam daddies and floating fry patterns are working as well as washing line with diawls and crunchers. The fish are still mostly holding in the main basin.

Bank anglers are starting to find fish in the margins with the Cliffs and Sailing Club bank being productive. Fry and shrimp patterns are taking these fish.

There is a further stocking of 2,000 fish planned for this week which should freshen things up.
