Pitsford Water week ending 28 April

Fish 644 (Season 5,767) Returns 82 (838) Rod average 7.85 (6.9)

Another brilliant week from boat and bank at Pitsford Water with a rod average for the week of 7.85 in spite of the changeable weather.

The big Browns are showing again with several notable fish caught.

Ian Munroe and his boat partner Dean Drew have had continued success, fishing blue flash damsel patterns to catch quality fish from all areas. Ian caught and released a stunning Brown of 8lb 9oz from the Small Half, the fish taking the damsel. Dean had a nice Rainbow of 4lb 3oz along with several other fish.

Simon Lehane and John Castledine boat fished on Sunday, fishing the rudder they had two cracking Browns both around the 6-7lb mark which were returned. They also had around a dozen Rainbows each up to 4lb.

On Sunday there was a charity boat match organised by Arnold Haddon on behalf of Bob Church. The best bag was taken by Mick Foster with 8 fish for 22lb 7oz. Mick also had the biggest fish with a Brown trout of 5lb 10oz. Joan Russell took second place with 8 fish for 19lb 13oz and Kevin Garn was third with 8 fish for 18lb 15oz.

The East Midlands FF held a bank match on Sunday they fished for points with each fish earning one point. Top rod was Graham Bodsworth with 16 points, second place went to Bob Aves with ten points and Mick Facey was third with 8 points.

Best methods are floating or midge tip lines with teams of nymphs fished washing line style. The best areas from the boat or bank are Duffers, Bog Bay, Cliffs, Brixworth Bay, Sailing Club bank.

Best Rainbow: 6lb taken by Phil Jordan.

Best Brown: 8lb 9oz taken by Ian Munroe.

Best boat areas: Small Half, Brixworth Bay, Pines.

Best bank areas: Duffers, Bog Bay, Sailing Club.
