Fish 217 (Seson 15,250) Returns 64 (2,966) Rod average 3.4 (5.1)
Challenging weather aside; Pitsford Water has generally fished well from both bank and boat this week with a rod average of 3.4. The largest Brown reported this week was 7lb 6oz and taken by a season ticket holder.
Bank anglers are opting to fish washing line tactics to target the shrimp feeders and finding that in addition to diawls, hare's ears and shrimp patterns, a lot of fish are coming to the fab on the point. Indeed, shop manager Neil enjoyed a fantastic, short hour long after work session. Opting to fish simple washing line tactics around the Gravels he had well over ten bites and netted four Rainbows. All of the Rainbows were 3lb plus and all four fell to the fab on the point. Due to the direction of the wind for most of the week many bank anglers have been fishing the Gravels right up to Rigbys and catching well.
Boat anglers have also reported several fish falling to blobs/fabs and boobies, fishing two nymphs between a couple of 'attractors' on something like a Di3 has worked well for many this week, particularly when extending the drift from tight to the bank out into open water. Besides this, boats have also been getting close to the banks targeting the shrimp feeders on nymphs or fishing lures on sinking lines to target the large resident Browns. With the Browns anglers are opting for snakes and humungous on a sinking line, such as a Di3 or Di5.
