Pitsford Water week ending 26 September

Fish week 224 (Season 9,047) Returns 63 (1,591) Rod average 3.5 (5.7)

Some of Pitsford’s bigger resident fish are starting to appear as the weather cools, but the fishing is not always consistent.
Derby Fly Fishers enjoyed a day fishing Pitsford and some of their members did well landing some good Rainbows in the 3-4lb range.

The best recorded fish of the week was a 6lb Brown trout. Although several anglers have reported catching and returning Browns up to 8lb.

There has been some algae in the water, but many areas are clear so look for the clean water and fish in the top few feet as the fish are up and looking.

The best methods over the weekend have been floating or midge tip lines with foam daddies and small nymphs fished washing line style. Drifts out in open water are producing fish from the dam all the way down to the narrows.

Best Rainbow: 4lb.

Best Brown: 6lb.
