Pitsford Water week ending 23 August

Fish 159 (Season 5,550) Returns 37 (909) Rod average 4.3 (6.1)

It continues to be a mixed bag on Pitsford with some great days and others where it is difficult. The rod average for the week is still a healthy 4.3. The boats continue to out fish the bank with the Main Basin down to Rigbys producing the majority of the fish.

Best methods are still floating or midge tip lines and FAB’s, boobies or foam daddies on the point with diawls and crunchers on droppers.  Snails are also featuring on the trout’s diet with small black boobies and black crunchers working for them.

Bank anglers have struggled to catch consistently but have had some better fish with Browns up to 5lb coming to fry patterns fished around the weedbeds. Shrimp patterns are also picking up some fish in the margins.

With the water cooling expect sport to really pick up over the next couple of weeks.

Best Rainbow: 4lb.

Best Brown: 4lb 8oz.

Beginners Courses: 28 August; 10 & 19 September and other dates throughout the season. Please call 01604 781350 to book a place.
