Pitsford Water week ending 22 November

Rod average 5.4 (Season 5.7)

Boat fishing to resume and tackle shops re-opening on 2 December at Rutland, Grafham and Pitsford

With a rod average for the week of 5.4 Pitsford is fishing very well from the bank, on top of that we are seeing some exceptional catches.

Heading this week’s returns for quality fish was the best Rainbow of the season; this cracking specimen of 12lb 5oz was caught and released from the bank between Rigbys and the Gravels. Other fish in the same bag included a 6lb plus Brown and four other Rainbows all over 3lb; caught with floating line with shrimp patterns, later switched to an unweighted snake pattern.

On Saturday one of our anglers fished Northfields and by being mobile and fishing the less comfortable windward bank he had an amazing 34 fish, with a Brown of around 4lb and a Rainbow of around 6lb topping the list. These fish were taken on floating line with a washing line set up and shrimp and diawl bach. One of our season ticket anglers enjoyed great sport at Pitsford this week netting twenty fish across four trips, retaining four fish and returning 16 others.

All areas seem to be holding fish but if you do not catch after 30 minutes then move on as keeping mobile has been productive.

Best Rainbow: 12lb 5oz.

Best bank areas: Gravels, Sermans, Rigbys
