Fish 326 (Season 6,672) Returns 54 (1,109) Rod average 6.03 (6.01)

Brown trout have featured at Pitsford this week. The browns have been showing in good numbers with several notable catches of fish around the 9lb mark. The best reported on the catch returns is a nice 8lb 14oz fish, though there have been several others photographed and returned of a similar size. George Hackett had his biggest ever fish a 7lb 1oz specimen.

Most of the browns are coming to sunk line tactics with humungus or snakes though they have been caught from the bank using shrimp patterns and fry imitations.

The rainbows are also responding and the overall rod average for the week is a very healthy 6.

The best general method is still dries or washing line tactics with nymphs.

The bank is now fishing well with shrimp and pin fry patterns best. One of our regular anglers enjoyed a short morning session on Saturday fishing foam shrimp patterns to take six lovely rainbows with several others missed. He fished from gorse to Ash Tree Bay targeting the weedbeds.

A further 2,000 fish were stocked this week with an average weight of 1.25kg so the sport looks set to continue.

Fish stocked: 2,000.

Beginners Courses: 3,9 & 31 October; 7 November. To book a place please call the lodge on 01604 781350.
