Pitsford Water week ending 17 April

Fish week 657 (Season 2,107) Returns 91 (301) Rod average 7.2 (7.0)

Pitsford continues to fish exceptionally well with buzzer and nymphs continuing to account for most bags.

Small lures on intermediate lines are also doing well, with Pitsford Pea, cat’s whisker and dancers catching well.

Floating lines with either straight line tactics or washing line are working well as is the bung.

Fish are more spread out with the small half, Causeway and Bog Bay now fishing as well as the early season hotspots of the Sailing Club, Cliffs and Brixworth Bay.

Some of the notable catches this week include 27 fish caught and safely released by one angler fishing on a Di5 line and damsel pattern on the Causeway. One angler visiting from Plymouth enjoyed a couple of excellent days catching and releasing in excess of 50 fish, including 5 nice Browns.

The largest Brown of the week was reported as 7lb 8oz, this along with a smaller Brown and 14 Rainbows was safely returned. One father and son boat pairing boated over 30 fish around the Causeway with many more lost. They had a great day fishing with floating line and biscuit fab and black buzzers.

Best Rainbow: 4lb.

Best Brown: 7lb 8oz.

Fish stocked: 1,500.
