Pitsford Water week ending 15 May

Fish Week 258 (Season 3262) Returns 39 (474) Rod average 6.6 (6.9)

Pitsford continues to fish very well from both boat and bank though the Sailing Club area has started to slow after weeks of heavy pressure which was to be expected.

Rigbys, Gravels and Sermons have all produced fish from the bank, with imitative tactics still working best. Buzzers in black or Olive, small Diawls or similar nymphs on Floating or sink tip lines are accounting for some good bags.

Boats are reporting fish from the Causeway up to Stone Barn, Brixworth Bay and the Cliffs with the same tactics working. The odd fish is now coming to Damsel patterns and there are always the Shrimp feeders that will take a hares ear.

Another 1500 quality fish from Exe Valley have been stocked this week taking the number stocked so far this season to 14000. Best Rainbow for the week was a 5lb fish while there have been several Brown trout reported from 2lb up to 5-6lb. With weather conditions improving through this week with warm temperatures expect the buzzer hatches to continue through the week.

Best Rainbow: 5lb

Fish Stocked: 1500, Season so far 14000

Forthcoming events: Beginners courses 28th May. Call 01604 781350 for information.
