Pitsford Water week ending 13 March

Fish week 75 (Season 124) Returns 22 (37) Rod average 3.4 (3.4)

Although Pitsford fished to a 3.4 rod average this week, the catch rate over the weekend was noticeably higher than this as both bank and boat anglers caught well on Saturday and Sunday. So hopefully we will have a good week ahead.

On Saturday one boat reported 26 fish to the boat using lures and sinking lines. On Sunday Pitsford hosted a Mid Northants bank match which finished with a rod average of 7; with ten anglers catching around 70 fish, and some anglers touching double figures. Most of these were recently stocked fish and were caught on a variety of methods, from washing line and small nymphs, lures, to Apps bloodworm. Areas to try in a southerly are Rigbys,

Pitsford Creek and the Gravels. Most of the bank action over the last few days has been along the south shore due to the wind, but before the wind changed the north shore was fishing well, so it will be interesting to see how this fishes once the wind once again allows, with areas such as Hell Bay and No Fish Point producing before the wind changed. From a boat it is worth trying the same areas as the bank, but in addition Brixworth Bay has fished well.

Best Boat areas: Brixworth Bay.

Best Bank areas: Rigbys, Pitsford Creek.

Fish stocked: 2,500.
