Pitsford Water Week Ending 11th August 2024

Rod Average - 2.0

The recent hot weather has definitely not been welcomed by the Trout angler, it is no surprise therefore that the lake has been fishing hard with a rod average of 2.  However, some anglers have made the best of it, with the odd boat getting into double figures over the past 7 days.

Most of the action is in the main basin. Anglers can either go deep looking for fish holding down in the deeper water, or when conditions are more favourable fish dries or washing line, looking to intercept feeding fish.  Fish can be caught through the main basin, fishing dries blind, or going down deep.

Early morning bank anglers and boat anglers have also had success around the 'flats' fishing dries.

Outlook - the week forecast ahead is for typical August weather, with maximum temperatures in the low 20s, but also some showers - this may help to cool the water and improve the fishing.  The lake, at the time of writing remains in good condition, with clear water and good levels for this time of year.  Weed growth is prolific now so please bear that in mind when planning a trip.
