Pitsford Water week ending 11 April

Rod average 5.5 (Season 9.1)

The sudden cold snap has effected the sport from the bank at Pitsford with the fish moving out into deeper water. That said the boat fishing has been excellent with most boats reporting catches into double figures.

The rod average for the week is still a healthy 5.5 with the boat anglers  seeing the best sport.

The best fish of the week was a fine Rainbow of 9lb 4oz taken by Peter Hartley our resident instructor and guide. Peter caught this fine fish on a size 8 buzzer.

Two of our regular anglers have shared a boat three times this season so far and have caught over 130 fish with orange mini lures on sunk lines proving the most effective.  However, all of their fish were stuffed full of dark olive buzzers. Another boat pair fished on Sunday landing over 30 fish on a combination of floating lines and buzzers, switching to Di 3 and blobs/fabs. A day ticket angler enjoyed a good day boat fishing with Rainbows of 4lb 6oz, 4lb 2oz and 3lb 8oz in his catch.

One of our season ticket holders bank fished at the Gravels and caught a lovely grown on Rainbow with the fish taking a home tied brown buzzer and tipping the scales at 6lb 12oz.

With a further stocking of 2,000 fish taking the total stocked so far to 14,000 and fish spread throughout the lake, the fishing should begin to improve with the milder conditions forecast this week.

Best Rainbow: 9lb 4oz.

Fish stocked: 2,000.

From Monday 12 April we are opening our lodges in a Covid secure manner for tackle sales. Boat bookings can now be made over the phone and we will take your name and phone number and payment will be taken at the lodge on the day you fish. Customers can also now leave boat booking requests on the answer phone.

Whilst in and around the lodges please observe queueing mechanisms and signage and remember whilst onsite to follow the latest government Covid guidelines.
