Fish 140 (Season 4,687) Returns 37 (1,068) Rod average 3.8 (4.4)
Pitsford Water has fished well, despite the continuing heat wave, with a rod average for the week of 3.8.
The boats are still out fishing the bank as the hot weather has seen fish holding in the deeper, cooler water. Even so boat anglers are taking fish in the top six feet of water.
The best tactic has been washing line with midge tip or intermediate lines with diawl bachs and crunchers accounting for most fish. The best areas are the main basin, Sailing Club Bay, Pines and Narrows. Try nymphs and buzzers with red in the tying.
Liam Johnson had the biggest fish of the week. Liam’s eight fish limit included seven Rainbows, two of which were 3lb plus and a fine 5lb Brown.
Season ticket holder Jim Watts had a good session taking six fish and returning four others, whilst season ticket holder David Newens was rewarded for persevering from the bank, taking six and five fish in consecutive morning sessions.
From 1 July Pitsford boat anglers are permitted to spin using lures for trout. This is strictly on an eight fish kill only ticket with no fish to be returned with the exception of Brown trout. No Pike or Perch to be killed either.
