Pitsford Water Fishing Report week ending 7 May

Good weather has seen a lot of activity this week. The large buzzer hatches continue and fish are still at depth with anglers having plenty of sport. Intermediate lines with long leaders or Di7 are proving successful. Some nice 4lb plus Rainbows and a few more Browns have been taken this week.

Competition news

EDFF organised a match on Wednesday 3 May with 13 anglers taking 88 fish. The best fish of the match weighed 4lb and was caught in the Small Half. Sean Higgins took 6 fish with a total weight of 13lb 10oz.

On Sunday 6 May Mid Northants fly fishers had a good turn out for their match with 28 anglers catching 118 fish. First place went to Les Yarnell who had five fish – his best fish was 4lb.

Best Rainbow: Several anglers caught 4lb specimen fish this week.

Best Brown: 3lb 16oz taken by Tom Whipper.

Best boat areas: Dam, Sailing Club and Brixworth Bay; Small Half.

Best bank areas: Duffers and Rigbys Point.

Mid week boat winner: John Mills.
