Grafham’s opening week has corresponded with some welcome early spring sunshine; warming the air temperature but not the water temperature.
To that end, the fish have been found where you would expect to find them this time of year, in the deeper water occasionally moving into some shallower areas to feed later in the day once the water temperature has been warmed by the afternoon sun.
Subsequently, Grafham has fished very well with some great returns recorded from both the Boats & Banks with some great overwintered fish to 8lb making an appearance. The boats have found fish along the Bay’s of North Shore, most notably the Stumps, Pig Bag & as far down as Rectory Bay. On the South Shore, the Seat into Plummers & the south corner of the Dam has also recorded some good returns. The Boat anglers have caught on a variety of method from Lures on Sinking Lines to Small Buzzers fished deep in the afternoon sun.
The bank anglers have caught well on natural looking patterns as well as Lures with those areas with access to deeper water catching well most notably from the Dam early morning, Harbour Walls & off the seat.
A brief reminder to those thinking of fishing the Dam, that there restrictions still in place, please check the fishery rules for details.
The forecast fore the forthcoming week indicates that Grafham’s great start to season looks set to continue with plenty of boats still available through the online booking system.
