HEADLINE NEWS – Grafham Dam opens without restrictions from Saturday the 13th of August.

This could prove to be a good time to fish the Dam as over the past few weeks the boat anglers have been catching a lot of Shrimp, Fry and Snail feeders very close to the Dam.

One of the best approaches when fishing the Dam is to crouch or keep a low profile and cast at 45 degree angles, this way you are more likely to intercept passing fish as the run up and down along the wall and you’ll be a lot less likely to spook them.

Fly wise Hare’s Ear / shrimp / snail / Diawl Bachs on a floater will be a standard approach, switching between a weighted point fly or a fab depending on where the fish are holding in the water.

G marker and other bays along the north shore are also worth fishing, but we think the dam is more likely to produce.  Boat anglers should try fishing the dam as well, but remember to give bank anglers 50m of space.

In the hot weather boats should also try the boils, typically di5 and di7 lines with lures are the go to method here.

All boats are booked out for this weekend due to the WPC, so fishing the dam from the bank is a good alternative.
