Grafham Water week ending 7 October

Fish 98 (Season 10,397) Returns 57 (2,437) Rod average 1.71 (4.26)

This week has seen some changeable weather at Grafham Water. Although the fishing has been tough in recent weeks the cold windy weather has definitely helped angers find and catch fish in the later part of the week.

The rule of thumb seems to be that if you find clear water you will find the fish. Shrimp, hares ears or diawl bachs with a blob or booby on the point seems to be the way forward.

We have seen a lot of bank anglers fishing and catching at Mander car par at the early part of the week and the north shore at the later part. We look forward to receiving your catch returns so that we can reflect an accurate rod average.

The predator fishing at Grafham has been very popular and we have welcomed many new anglers to the site who have never fished here before. They are reporting that Grafham is fishing very well for all predator species with some double figure pike being caught. Dead baiting is now permitted (from 1 October) and we look forward to hearing how successful this method has been.
