Fish 257 (Season 8,462) Returns 88 (1,750) Rod average 2.9 (4.8)

Changeable weather conditions have made the fishing at Grafham a bit slower over the past week. However, anglers are still catching well in the morning and evening and have reported a respectable rod average of 2.9.

Many anglers have been taking advantage of the warm evenings to fish dry flies with good results. One such angler took twelve fish to 5lb on a quick three hour session. Now that the pin fry are about in abundance small fish patterns and lures fished on an intermediate or floating line are picking up a good stamp of fish with many over wintered fish falling to this method.

The aerator produced steady action throughout the day for two boats on Thursday with the anglers opting to fish as a team taking turns to drift through it whilst twitching diawl bachs and shrimp patterns.

Bank fishing is at its best from about 7pm onwards with plenty of good fish being caught along the dam on various patterns and lines. The arms are also producing fish in the mornings and evenings and a dry fly fished into the bay seems to be the way to go. During the coming week as the weather begins to settle down we fully expect the rod average to jump back up and the fish to switch on.
