Grafham Water week ending 30 August

Fish 422 Returns 110 Rod average 3.8

Grafham has continued to produce stunning quality fish this week. Like most waters Grafham has had some difficult days due to the weather with high winds and torrential rain. Those anglers who picked the better conditions or braved the worst of the elements were well rewarded with some quality fish. Lots of Rainbows over the 4lb mark in stunning condition have been reported.

The boat anglers have enjoyed good sport with snail feeders off the weedbeds around the mouth of Savages and along the north shore. While the bank anglers continue to do well off the south end of the Dam. As usual shrimp patterns and diawl bachs are working from the bank and dries are working from the boats. When the wind allows the lanes downwind of the boils have fished well and Gaynes Cove round to the Dam late and early from both bank and boat.

With the wind swinging round to the north, the north shore will fish well from the bank especially from the points – Deep Water, Pylon Coves and of course G with shrimp patterns and snakes doing the business.

There are a lot of Perch fry about especially in the harbour so expect the larger overwintered fish to turn on to these soon especially once the weed starts to die back. A floating fry popped across the surface over the weed bed will pull some fish in.
