Fish 695 Returns 173 Rod average 4.0

Boat fishing to resume and tackle shops re-opening on 2 December at Rutland, Grafham and Pitsford

Grafham continues to fish very well with a rod average of 4.

Last Sunday 22 November one of our season ticket holders netted a whopping Brown estimated at 13lb (supported by the measurements taken). This fine specimen was caught and safely returned to the west of Pylon Point with a size 12 Diawl bach on the top dropper.

This week has seen quite a lot of rainbows in the 4 – 6lb range from lots of areas around the lake. Floating line and a washing line set up is accounting for most of the fish. With an orange fab or a mini booby on the point and hare’s ear, shrimp or diawl bach up the line, fished very slow figure of eight. Alternatively, if you want to keep warm you can have a roving approach with a small fry pattern or a lure/snake and cover lots of water. Have 5 or 10 casts in a fan pattern in one spot, if you catch stay for a while and when it goes quiet move 20 yards down the bank.

Best areas as always are dictated by wind direction…. All points along the north shore are fishing well with the Willows and the long bank being the hotspots.

On the south shore…. The Seat is hot and Plummers to the south end of the dam is fishing well. The lodge bank, the harbour arms and along to Perry Point have all been very quiet for quite a few weeks now but will hopefully pick up soon.

Remember you must purchase a permit BEFORE you start fishing. The rangers are doing regular bank checks.

Boats will be available from Wednesday 2 December.
