Grafham continues to fish extremely well with top quality fish being brought to the net, despite the mixed weather we have seen over the past week. The weekly rod average stands at an impressive 4.87 with reports of fin perfect fish putting on a real fight.
The week started off well and anglers were constantly rewarded with fantastic fish from both the bank and boat. Bank anglers have noticed that the dam has slowed down slightly as it seems the fish have moved more towards the shore, this has been evident with the increasing number of fish being caught by the willows on the north bank, Plummers car park and also west bank just outside the Harbour. Some fantastic fish have come from G buoy stone jetty with anglers reporting arm ache from the strength of the fish!
The size of the fish coming out continues to impress anglers with a large proportion of fish regularly weighing in at over 3lb. Fry, shrimp patterns and snakes have seen some of the best results this week.
Grafham is the place to be right now for predator anglers. The rising water levels and the unprecedented number of fry have combined to attract the toothy critters. Also the zander have started to bite again having been a bit slow recently maybe the rising water level by the tower has helped stir them into feeding?
The pike in Grafham continue to be hard fought for, yet they are being caught regularly and good fish up to 20lb are being reported every week. Grafham is well worth a visit for the big fish, although not easy to catch it’s well worth the effort when you get to look a massive hard earned pike in the unblinking eye.
