Fish week 132 Returns 29 Rod average 4.55

Another 2,500 900g Rainbows have been stocked into the depths of Grafham this week and despite the hot weather the fishing has started to improve with the rod average for the week standing at 4.55. Grafham hosted a boat match on Sunday with 54 anglers catching 427 fish for a rod average of 7.9 and the best fish of the match weighing in at 4lb 8oz.

Bank anglers have been enjoying some success off the dam again particularly on nymphs and small diawl bach patterns twiddled back on floating lines, the harbour arms have also started to hit a bit of form now with one angler bagging 5 on a quick evening session.

Boat anglers have been doing well and as always the boils seem to be holding plenty of fish in the warm weather. But the whole of the north shore has also been producing plenty of fish about 100 yards from the bank. Again, most fish seem to be coming to small nymphs fished on floating lines, but don’t dismiss the big lure patterns you may have in your box as these tend to be catching the bigger fish.

With the forecast for the week ahead overcast and cooler we fully expect the fishing to continue improving and the rod average to keep climbing. The water clarity is pretty good and there are plenty of clear spots to fish, particularly along the north shore.
