Typically for this time of year, Grafham is definitely fishing better for the bank angler than the boat. Often the boats are struggling to get close enough in to target the fish, which are often tight to the bank looking for shrimp.
G buoy continues to be one of the most successful areas to target, although fish can be caught all along the north shore, but most of the big bags are coming from around G. Although the south is not fishing as well as the north, the odd fish is getting caught from areas such as the seat and in front of Plummer. The dam, which can be fished Monday to Friday before 9am, is also producing.
Winning tactics are shrimp patterns, or Hare's ears etc, although lures such as Olive snakes are a great alternative if the the shrimp feeders go quiet. The chamois fly seems to be quite successful at the moment, not everyone's cup of tea, but when fished under an indicator it can be very successful. One angler recently reported 20 fish in a session on this method!
Please note the fur and feather bank match has been moved to the 8th of December, due to the high winds forecasted for the weekend.
