Grafham Water week ending 14th July 2024

Rod average - 7.0

The past week has brought with it some relatively low winds never exceeding 10 mph and the occasional shower with a drop in temperature, which has dropped the temperature of the water, the reservoir has been fishing incredibly well far exceeding expectations for this time of year, the fish have remained feeding high in the water column and have been caught in various locations including the margins and the deep water on various methods. The fish have been feeding on a diet of predominantly shrimp and snails as well as fry around the structures in the lake such as the buoys and also emerging insects. Anglers have also reported seeing lots of daddy long legs around the water with some anglers having lots of success fishing them patterns.

The most productive methods have been the washing line with fish taking daiwl bachs and hairs ears and and fish have been taking colour on the point and top dropper aswell as darker flies such as boobies.
Fish have also been caught on dries such as CDCs and daddies.
Slow pulling has also been a productive method with anglers having darker flies on the point and colour up the droppers as fish have been taking both.

From the bank the north shore has been very productive especially around marlow jetty, g buoy and deep water point as fish seem to be very close into the margins and feeding on shrimp with the gold ribbed hairs ear proving to be the go to for many bank anglers

On both Saturday and Sunday the England youth team have been practicing together getting ready for a major competition with plenty of fish being caught on various methods.  Rod average at time of writing is 6.
