Grafham Water week ending 14 April

Fish 515 (Season 1,421) Returns 79 (339) Rod average 6.5 (5.7)

The season is really hotting up at Grafham Water with lots of action on the boats with anglers catching their quota plus a lot of catch and release.

We would like to give a shout out to Andy Lucas and Jonathan Lawrence who had a great day at Grafham on Friday. Not only did they catch 64 fish to their boat but Andy also took the season’s best Brown to date at 5lb 8oz. There have been other boats taking similar numbers of fish. Boat anglers are accounting for more fish than the bank anglers and we think this is because the boats can fish the low water mark from the end of last season which is where the fish are feeding.

Although bank fishing is steady at the moment we are sure this will catch up once the wind changes direction and more bug life starts to hatch on the margins.

The most effective methods this week have been fishing on an intermediate Di5, black/green blobs and boobies, buzzers at 12 feet. Use a slow retrieve, a lot of fish are on the hang.
