Grafham Water week ending 11 April

Fish week 1,197 Returns 243 Rod average 4.9

Grafham fished well this week with nearly 1,200 fish being caught including some nice overwintered fish, with a rod average of 4.9.

Grafham fished better on the warmer days last week and harder on the cold days.

Best boat areas were all the points along the north shore, with Hedge End, Deep Water Point and Pylon being the hot spots. With the weather being mostly cold the fish have been sitting a little deeper and a Di 3 down to Di 7, pulling lures and snakes has accounted for a lot of fish. For the anglers who prefer a quieter approach getting close in and fishing shrimp, hare’s ear and buzzer has worked. Please remember to give bank anglers plenty of room if you want to fish close in.

Best bank areas have been the north end of the Dam, G mark, deep water and Pylon Point in a northerly wind. Floating line with hare’s ear, shrimp, buzzer and blood worm all working well.

In a southerly or south westerly the harbour arms have produced some bigger fish and the Seat will fish well. Plummer seems to be a bit quiet currently, but expect that to improve as the weather warms up. The south end of the dam is as consistent as ever.

As the weather warms up look for the buzzer hatches and fish where there is bird activity. Whatever the birds are taking off the top the trout will be below them feeding as well.

From Monday 12 April we are opening our lodges in a Covid secure manner for tackle sales. Boat bookings can now be made over the phone and we will take your name and phone number and payment will be taken at the lodge on the day you fish. Customers can also now leave boat booking requests on the answer phone.

Whilst in and around the lodges please observe queueing mechanisms and signage and remember whilst onsite to follow the latest government Covid guidelines.

Best boat areas: All points on the north shore.

Best bank areas: The dam, G, the Willows, the Seat.

Fish stocked: 12,500 in total.
