Grafham Water Trout Fishing
Anglian Water trout fisheries to open from 1 April
Following the Prime Minister’s ‘road map’ announcement on 22 February, we can confirm that we are going to open Rutland, Grafham, Pitsford and Ravensthorpe waters for Fly fishing for Trout from bank and boat from the 1 April. Boat fishing will be for either single anglers or two anglers, but not three anglers sharing until further notice.
Special arrangements for boat and bank bookings 1 - 11 April
Based on the ‘road map’ the fishing lodges will be unable to open until 12 April at the earliest, so all boats booked between the 1 April and the 11 April will need to be pre-paid at the point of booking, the same as how we operated for much of last season.
Bank tickets can be purchased over the phone for 1 - 11 April (although we suggest leaving this closer to the date of your visit. Rutland and Pitsford vendor huts will be available upon opening for bank tickets.
Phone lines are now open for boat bookings
Our lodges are taking boat bookings over the phone 8am - 5pm 7 days a week.

Grafham Water offers fantastic trout fishing challenges for anglers of every level of experience.
What might I catch?
The trout fishing season at Grafham Water usually runs from the first Friday in March to 31st January. We have healthy trout fish populations, with 65% of the trout weighing in at two pounds and some even tipping the scales at fifteen. So, why not try and catch the weigh-in of one of our national and international competitions at the fishing lodge? They’re normally at around 18:00.
Are beginners welcome?
Absolutely. There are beginners’ courses running all season long. Covering tackle, technique, safety and boat handling, our qualified instructors will soon have you up to speed. Click here to find out more.
Our tackle shop has everything you’ll need, even if you’re starting from scratch. The staff want you to be safe on the water, so, when you drop in, ask them about our Safe Start DVD.
It’s full of really handy info but, if you don’t think you’ll have time when you visit, you can watch it below.
Hooked! Fishing Guide
Each spring we publish Hooked!, an annual guide to everything you need to know about trout fishing.

Do I have to buy a permit?
That’s right. Whether you’re looking for a day ticket or a seasonal permit, the tackle shop is your first port of call.
In the unlikely event that it’s closed, pop across to the anglers car park and a ranger will see to your needs. They tend to be in the workshop.
1–4. Fishery day limit plus catch & release. Valid from opening dates to 31 January
5 . Maximum 2 seasons following AWS course. No junior reduction. Valid 8 months pro rata
