Do I need a permit for predator fishing?

Yes. As with all fishing at Alton Water and Ardleigh Reservoir, you need a permit to fish. Predator fishing at Alton & Ardleigh is priced the same as our standard fishing permits:

For the safety of the fish

We want you to get the most out of your visit, but we also want to ensure our fish are treated with respect. When in possession of a predator permit you must abide by the following rules:

  • Dead sea baits only
  • Landing nets and unhooking mats are required
  • No live baiting
  • Wire traces to be used when fishing for pike, zander and perch.
