Pitsford Water Week Ending 10th March 2024

Rod Average - 7.0

Pitsford is fishing very well from both boat and bank. The quality of fish being reported is also excellent with the best Brown trout for the week being caught by Ed Foster and weighing 8lb11oz a personal best for him. Best Rainbow was caught by Phillip Jordan and was a lovely overwintered specimen of 7lb. Many anglers are reporting the recent stock fish up to 4-5lb and fighting superbly.

Various methods are working form floating lines and buzzers, bung, intermediates and fast sinkers. Best flies are fabs and blobs fished on a washing line tactic or Humungus and other fry patterns on sunk lines. On milder days then around lunchtime we have seen some buzzer hatches so try small buzzers in Black.

There is still a tinge of colour in the water from the Causeway up into the Narrows but this is dropping out. The clear water is from the top of the Narrows up towards the Dam and this is where you should head. The Pines, Cliffs, Pitsford Creek and Sailing Club continue to be the best areas but I would expect Northfields and Stone Barn to switch on anytime.
